FAQ
Restaurant software questions, answered for New Zealand
Answers for restaurants, cafés and bars in New Zealand: table bookings on the floor plan, a QR digital menu with recipe cards and food cost, table orders sent to the kitchen, ingredient stock, shift clock-in and sales reports.
Table bookings and the floor plan
How do table bookings work on 4restaurants.net?
You draw your floor plan and place your tables on it. Bookings are made and tracked on the plan, so you can see at a glance which tables are taken at a given time.
Can I group tables by room, such as dining room, terrace and bar?
Yes. Tables can be grouped by room, and each room shows its own tables on the floor plan.
Does it send confirmations to guests?
Only if you switch it on: on the Plus plan and above the application can text guests through your own 4notify account. It sends no email. Otherwise confirm bookings by phone or from your own inbox.
Digital menu, recipes and food cost
How does the QR code digital menu work?
You publish the menu and place a QR code on each table or menu holder. The guest scans the code on their own phone and reads the dishes. You manage the menu from the dashboard.
What does a recipe contain?
A recipe links each dish to its ingredients, with the net portion weight and unit of measure of each. From that, the application works out the food cost of one portion.
Orders, stock, shifts and reports
How does an order get from the table to the kitchen?
The server records the order at the table in the application, and it is sent to the kitchen, linked to its table.
What can I track for stock?
Stock levels for each ingredient, counted against the recipes that use them.
How does the team clock in for shifts?
Team members clock in for their shift directly in the application, and the record shows the time worked.
Does it take payments or issue receipts?
No. The application does not take card, EFTPOS or online payments and does not issue receipts. Payment stays on your POS or EFTPOS terminal.
Does it create tax invoices?
No. The application does not issue invoices. Use your own invoicing software or your accountant's system for GST tax invoices.
What reports can I see?
Reports per day, per dish and per waiter, so you can see what sold and who sold it.
Scope and setup
What does 4restaurants.net connect to?
Almost nothing outside the application today. It does not connect to a POS or EFTPOS terminal, to Google Calendar or Gmail, to delivery platforms or to other business software. The only connection is optional guest SMS through your own 4notify account.
What features does the platform include?
Table bookings on a floor plan, a QR digital menu, recipe cards with portion weights and food cost, table orders sent to the kitchen, ingredient stock levels, shift clock-in, and reports per day, per dish and per waiter.
How do I set the platform up from the start?
Create your account, draw your floor plan and load the menu with its recipe cards. Setup is managed from the dashboard.
